	What is the Mission Statement for the Chamber?
The Chamber exists to encourage and foster free enterprise and economic development. The Chamber exists to support good government and create and maintain a positive business climate in Carleton Place and surrounding area.
	What are the objectives of the Chamber?
To help build the economy of Carleton Place and District. To facilitate business social contact among members of the Carleton Place and District Chamber of Commerce and develop and maintain useful programs and services for membership. To serve as the "Voice of Business" in our community and the surrounding area. To promote a society and economy based on private enterprise and concern for the individual. To work in concert with local development organizations in the development, implementation and monitoring of an economic development strategy. To ensure the retention, involvement and growth of the Carleton Place and District Chamber of Commerce's membership. To communicate information on topical subjects of interest to the membership. To enhance the image of the Carleton Place and District Chamber of Commerce by providing leadership for its members. To enhance involvement with the Canadian and Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
	How will the Chamber and BIA work together? Both the Chamber and the BIA (Business Improvement Assoc.) have a vested interest in the success of Carleton Place and the businesses that it contains. While the Chamber is focused on a broad mandate to bring commerce to the area, the BIA is focused on specifically bringing commerce to the downtown core. The Chamber and BIA work together on many projects, and in some cases there appears to be overlap in their initiatives. This overlap should be seen as a strength of the community. In all cases both organizations are interested in the betterment of Carleton Place & District as a whole.
